Setting PC Clock for UTC
| As shipped, the DXbase documentation prescribes that your PC
clock must be set to local time. This was required because our testing showed that
UTC would not work properly due to daylight saving time adjustments that Windows
automatically makes. Ken, KF4CI, has done some experimenting with Windows settings
for the clock and advises that the following procedure will work. |
Procedure |
- Close DXbase if it is running.
- Open the Windows Date/Time Properties window from the Windows Control Panel, or by
double clicking on the time display ICON in the lower right-hand system tray on the
Windows status bar.
- Click on the time zone tab.
- Select the zone labeled (GMT) Casablanca, Monrovia. You will see the check box
labeled "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes" becomes grayed
out when this zone is selected. NOTE: Do not select any of the other choices
for GMT. These will not work properly because daylight saving changes impact the
system clock and will result in your logged times being off by an hour. This is a
quirk of Windows.
- Save your changes.
- Restart DXbase.
|
| This will allow your computer clock to operate with UTC time. |
