| The
MSVCIRT.DLL file is linked to missing export MSVCRT.DLL |
|
|
Symptom
|
|
After installing DXbase,
user attempts to run the program and receives a system generated
error message that says, "The MSVCIRT.DLL file is linked to a
missing export MSVCRT.DLL". User may also receive an
error message that says, "A device is not connected to the
system". DXbase will not run. |
|
Cause |
|
During the installation of
DXbase, many Microsoft shared .dll files are installed on your
system if the version that we desire to install is a later version
than a file by the same name already resident on your
machine. In some cases, one of the files that we install may
already be in use by your system. When this happens, DXbase
expects to see the file that we installed but instead it sees an
earlier version of the file in your system's memory. This
represents an illogical condition and Window's reports the error. |
|
Solution |
|
Close all programs that you
may have open. Shut down your machine. Now, restart
your machine. This will allow Window's to load the newer
file that we installed. Now, you should be successful when
opening DXbase. |
|
Recommendation |
|
Whenever you install new
software, it is a good idea to reboot your machine. This
insures that the latest files installed on your hard drive are
loaded by Windows. |
