Fact or Fiction!
| If you are like us, we often times search the web looking for
a product or service. Like you, we read all the promotional material and try to
compare what each manufacturer has to say in order to make an informed purchasing
decision. In some cases, you have to be very careful because what you read isn't
always accurate and sometimes, it's outright misleading. In an effort to help you
from being fooled, we'd like to point out just a few things to be cautious about. |

You may encounter a web site where they take great pride in
presenting you with a so called review that claims to be a comparison of their product
with DXbase. What they don't tell you is that the review was not a review at
all. It was written as promotional hype for their product. At the time it was
written, it compared our three year old DXbase for DOS product with their latest Windows
product. Wonder why they didn't choose to compare our latest version of DXbase for
Windows with their latest Windows version? Wonder why they didn't dare compare
feature for feature what each product had to offer. Want to see what a
"real" review looks like, then take a look at what the Frankfurt Radio Club had
to say, or look at what Japan's 5x9 magazine had to say. |
|
You will certainly see all kinds of catchy phrases such as,
"most flexible, most features, fastest, best support", and the list goes on and
on. Don't be fooled, study each claim, and see if you can find some kind of
supporting information to substantiate what they say. When you read the information
we present for DXbase, you'll find that what we say is easily verified by customer
comments, the contents of our on-line help files that you can download, and the obvious
appearance of our screen presentations. |

You'll see some companies say they offer a 32 bit Windows
application. Kind of reminds us of the Trojan Horse. As programmers, we know
that it's very easy to take a 16 bit application, recompile it as 32 bit, and then claim
that you have a 32 bit program. Not so. What you end up with is a 16 bit
program wrapped in a 32 bit wrapper. With DXbase for Windows, our programming code
was written in total 32 bit architecture. This gives you true 32 bit performance
throughout. No hidden unwanted surprises here. |
