| Upgrading
from past versions of DXbase for Windows |
|
If you
currently have DXbase 2000-2005 installed, you can
perform the upgrade to DXbase 2006 as described below.
|
|
Obtain
the DXbase 2006 program
|
|
1. You can download
the program from our web order form. A registration key will be
emailed to you.
2. You can order the CD. Your registration key will
be provided with the CD that you receive.
If you intend to import data from DXbase 98 or from DXbase for
DOS, you will need special files that are only available on the
CDROM version of DXbase. Contact us if that is the
case.
|
|
Install
the program |
|
When you install the
program, it is in "trial" mode. In this mode, you
cannot use any database except for the trial.mdb that is
provided. The trial.mdb cannot be used with a registered
version. Before importing any data from a previous version,
you should activate your registration. |
|
Register
DXbase |
|
You will be provided a
file that is named yourcall.reg. Using Windows Explorer,
double click this file and Windows will activate your
registration. If you received your registration file by
email, just double click the attachment and also save the
attachment to a floppy so you have it available in case you need
it in the future. |
|
After
Registration |
|
After you have completed
the activation of your registration, you can now perform an import
of your past version's data into DXbase 2006. Use DXB Import
to do this. When the import is complete, run DXbase and when
prompted, select your database which will typically be
yourcall.mdb. Review user options and set those that you
wish to change.
If you intend to use the internal CW module, you must activate
the driver by running the dxbdvr utility from the DXbase program
group and afterwards, restart your machine. Consult the help
file for more info.
